Update on commenting and membership

I still have the community set to friends only commenting. This is not permanent. With commenting for non-members off, this really gets in the way of how we let new people join. My email has be very busy with requests to join. For now I'm not letting in new members, because for one I don't really have the time to do it this weekend and I really like having them comment on a post to join, so we have a record of their request. We will be letting new people join no later than Monday. That is also when I will change commenting back to everyone(except anon). I'm working this weekend and will have access to LJ, but not as much to email. But if there is anyone that really, really needs membership, for whatever reason, just email me with the username.

I really feel like most of our nonmembers that comment are a valuable part of this community, so it's really important to me to get the community back to the way it was.

I've been lurking these last few days and I think this situation is disgusting. Boo LJ for their poor judgment and abuse staff. I hope you guys fight them tooth and nail and that the suspended users will rise from the dead. How many more users have to go before LJ realizes that breastfeeding is not sexual?

Woah!!!!!!!!!!!! I want one of those. What is it? This would be so cool if they made them to demonstrate what to look out for in terms of lumps in the breasts. Mine are so fibery cysty that I don't know what to feel for. On the other hand I think it'd be fun just to have a nice big squishy boob toy.

thanks! I was a member for a short time and then for some reason my membership didn't work. I emailed several times and nothing changed. I used to comment a lot, but could not post on my own. Eventually I stopped following because I wasn't given membership, but it is nice to be appreciated anyway.

Thanks for opening commenting back up for non-members of the community. While I'm not a member of the boob_nazis community (and do not wish to become one), I am extremely committed to breastfeeding, volunteer as a breastfeeding educator in my community, etc.

Since the discussion with LiveJournal staff about breastfeeding icons has been taking place in public posts in this community, it's nice to be able to participate.

And honestly, I think it's good for the SixApart management to see perspectives from a wide range of breastfeeding advocates, whether or not they are members of the boob_nazis community.

Oh yeay, thank God!!!! I've been soooooo upset about this whole breastfeeding icon thing and have been very involved, so it was hard to suddenly find myself locked out. I wrote asking to join but I knew you were probably SWAMPED with requests both from like minded folks and perhaps from some trollish people and that you were going to need to take the time to sort through all of this. Thank you for doing this for everyone.

I care so much about children, mothering, pregnancy, (I think I kind of got that backwards there, lol,) so naturally breast feeding means a lot to me. We (my son and I) breast fed for three years, thereabouts, and I got so much crap for it from some of the more backwards members of my family and community. Thank God for the support of fellow breast feeding mommies, and La Leche League. My son is sixteen now, and thirteen years ago there was no such thing as Google and the Internet was just starting to happen, so it wasn't as easy to get info as it is now, and some of it was a struggle, but it was so very worth it, and my memory of those days is very dear to me. I remember my Mother saying, "What are you gonna do, wait until he goes to high school and then meet him in the parking lot to breast feed him at lunch?" This was from MY MOTHER, can you immagine? Honestly, we have it so much easier now, a mere dozen or so years later.

Anyway, I'm thrilled you've opened it back up for comments, and I really hope you'll allow me to join.

PS: I'm a naturist/nudist. I go to Burning Man every year. Naked = beautiful, in my book, and breast feeding, well, breast feeding is the ultimate in beautiful as far as I'm concerned, so it blows my mind, completely BLOWS MY MIND when people say they find it distasteful. Ewwww, it just gives me the creeps, and honestly, even though I hate to be judgmental, it just tells me so much about the person who feels this way. Sad really.
